Pre-School – Day Three and Day Four
Day Three (Wed 1/27) – I started crying when dada took me into the classroom. Miss Sandy came to pick me up and dada left. Today I didn’t really eat my lunch but I did sleep for an hour. I’m still very attached to Miss Fanny. Riley didn’t go to school today as she was sick. We tend to set each other off when one of us cry so given that she wasn’t at school, I actually did pretty well in the afternoon. I only cried when I woke up from my nap and didn’t cry again until I saw mama coming out to the playground to pick me up.
Day Four (Fri 1/29) – It’s just not getting better…. first I cried in bed and didn’t want to get up, then I started crying when dada pulled into the school parking lot, and then all hell broke loose when we went into the classroom. I think Dada is as traumatized by this pre-school thing as I am! According to the teachers, I’m improving a little bit, but I still get upset during transitions. I had a meltdown when Miss Fanny went on break and when Auntie Linda came to pick up Riley. I didn’t really eat my lunch again, but I did get some sleep during nap time. Of course, I burst into tears again when mama came to pick me up.
Stay tuned….

A Nasty Flu
Mama has a nasty flu since last week – fever, runny nose and cough, and I think I finally caught it. After nap time today, I had a fever. I kept telling mama and dada that my throat area hurts. They thought I had a sore throat, turns out I wanted to throw up, which I did a few minutes later. They gave me some children’s tylenol and after a while I was able to eat some crackers and drink some apple juice. By bedtime, I was back to my old self. However, just to be safe, they decided to keep me at home the next day, so I missed school on Monday.

Pre-School – Day Two
Dada dropped me off this morning. Since he is going on a business trip and his flight doesn’t leave until 11:15am, we went to school a little bit later today. I was fine as we walked into the school, then I started bargaining with Dada to have him stay with me for a bit longer. I wanted ten minutes and he said two. Miss Sandy thought that dada was lingering for a bit too long so he came and pick me up and told dada to leave. I didn’t want to see dada go so I started crying. Day two was much tougher than day one, I didn’t eat my lunch and couldn’t fall asleep during nap time. I did develop a strong attachment to one of the two afternoon teachers, Miss Fanny, though. I followed her around the whole afternoon. When mama came to pick me up, I bursted into tears again. Since I didn’t nap, I was really tired and moody after I got home, and so mama let me nap on the couch for 45 minutes. I was still very tired so I went to bed extra early after eating just a little bit of dinner. At night, I woke up crying 4 times, and twice I called for Miss Fanny. I was very sad the whole night but woke up all happy again the next morning!

Starting Pre-School!!
There has been so much preparation leading up to this day – starting with mama touring different schools and putting my name on different wait lists, potty training for months, Dada reading me a bedtime story for weeks about children going to school, mama getting and purchasing all my school gear, and dada and mama taking me to visit the school twice so that I can meet my teachers before my first day….. the big day has finally arrived. Today is my first day of school! I”m starting school with my friend Riley. Here we are outside already to go in.
I actually did quite well the first day, I didn’t cry when mama and dada left. They watched me a little bit in the observation room and they saw me playing for a bit. As the day progressed, I realized what school means and therefore I had some crying moments throughout the day. I ate some of my lunch and was able to fall asleep during nap time. When mama came in to pick me up in the afternoon, I just burst into tears! I really miss her. I’m not so sure about this school thing yet. Let’s see how I do on day two.

A Picnic
After a month long vacation, Goo-Goo has to go back to HK. To send her off, mama and dada decided to take everyone to a picnic at our favorite park. It has been raining quite a bit lately, so we were all excited about the sunny weather on Sunday. I brought my tricycle to the park and had a lot of fun riding it. I also played frisbee with grandpa and dada. Elyse didn’t nap very well so she was a bit difficult, so mama went home with her first. By the time the rest of us got home, it started raining again – so perfect timing on our part!

Disneyland
To continue celebrating my birthday, mama and dada took me to Disneyland for the first time. Given my and Elyse’s different nap schedule, they contemplated on the best way to maximize our time in the park. At last, they decided to again use Dada’s hotel points to get a room at the Sheraton Anaheim hotel, which is about a 5 minute shuttle ride to the park.
They did their best to leave the house early Saturday morning. Dada found out that Costco was selling a 4 day pass for $160 so we stopped on the way to pick up the tickets. I enjoyed a bagel and cream cheese during the ride, but Elyse was getting restless but finally fell asleep. Perhaps it was the rush in the morning, or it may have been dada’s less-than-desirable driving, right before we pulled into the hotel parking lot, Elyse woke up briefly and threw up all over herself. She was actually fine, as she was all smiles when mama frantically tried to take her out of the car seat.
After all the drama and the resulting clean up, we caught the hotel shuttle and went to Disneyland.
Our first stop was It’s a Small World. We then headed to Toon Town where I met Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse. Minnie Mouse is by far my favorite character. I went to her house three times! Elyse got to visit the Disney Baby Center, which was a nice clean place where Mama was able to breastfeed her and changed her diaper.
Afterwards we went back to the hotel and Elyse and I both took a nap while dada and mama ate a late lunch quietly in the room. After we woke up, we all took the shuttle to Downtown Disney and walked around and took the monorail back into the park. We then caught the shuttle back to the hotel. Afterwards, Mama went home with Elyse as they figured we would all be better off if Elyse gets to sleep at home. Dada and I continued to party with a nice dinner at the hotel followed by a viewing of the fireworks from our hotel room.
The next morning, dada and I grabbed a quick breakfast and went back to the park. We went on a lot of rides and met a lot of princess. We actually ran into Auntie Norma and her family as she was celebrating her birthday there. Elyse slept in that morning so Mama didn’t get to join us at the park until 11:30am. I got to go on one ride with Mama – Winnie the Pooh, but I didn’t really enjoy it as it was too dark and too loud for me. We all went home in the afternoon just in time for a late nap. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go back again!

Happy 3rd Birthday to Me!
It’s my third birthday!! I’m getting old. Since my birthday fell on a weekday again this year, there was no celebration until night time. Just like last year, dada has to attend an offsite conference all week. Last year, he actually missed my birthday. I think mama gave him enough grief this year (and I’m sure he wanted to celebrate with me himself) that he drove all the way back from Hollywood and fought the afternoon commute traffic just to be with me. Mama picked up the cake and take out from Bucca di beppo. Grandma-mar-mar, grandpa and Goo-Goo also joined the festivities.
After cake, I opened up all my birthday presents. For those who weren’t able to attend my mini celebration dinner – thanks Uncle Kerry and Yee Yee for my backpack, thanks Uncle Jeff and Auntie Jen for my lunch bag, thanks Nanny Susan for my baby and stroller/high chair set.
Check out all my birthday photos under the “Photo Albums” page.

Riding My Tricycle
Nanny Susan gave me a pink tricycle for Christmas and mama and dada bought me the matching helmet. I rode it for the first time the day after Christmas and did ok. This is my second day and I actually did quite well! Of course, dada helped me with the steering from the back.
